People with sight loss, Learning Disabilites, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADD/ADHD, Coordination developmental disability, motor skills disorder, pervasive developmental disorders
(autism spectrum disorders, disturbance of sense, Rett’s disorder, Asperger syndrome)

People with disabilities benefit from Taekwondo not only because of physical training(Technique) but
also training to have a stronger heart(Character).   This is benefit of TCCD & TCS programs.

We came to Ha’s Taekwondo not realizing how great it would be for both of our kids. My daughter suffers from an autoimmune disease called Juvenile Dermatomyositis, it’s a disease where her body attacks her muscles. When initially diagnosed 3 years ago she could barely walk and we would have to carry her up and down stairs. She’s been doing well, but has been doing Physical therapy for 3 years, that is until we met Master Ha! Within 5 mins of our trial class he saw the same deficiencies that the Physical therapists evaluated her on. We enrolled both our kids that day and my daughter goes additionally to the 1 on 1 class for individual instruction. That was Sept (2015) and at the end of January her physical therapist said that she no longer needed Physical Therapy! We also have noticed an increased focus and confidence since starting Taekwondo at Ha’s. In fact, the 1 on 1 training has helped so much with focus and confidence that we will continue both the weekly classes and the 1 on 1 class for as long as needed. Master Ha focuses on training the whole child, he really loves what he does and his instructors are very professional, the kids love them all.

We had my sons 6th birthday party here over the weekend. The staff was fantastic and the party was so much better than what we expected! All of the kids that attended had a blast! Master Tony was excellent in dealing with and teaching the kids. Most of the attenders, including my son, had never done tae kwon do before and this was an awesome introduction! Highly recommend!

My children have been doing TKD at Ha’s for over a year now. It has been a great experience. The TKD program not only teaches them TKD but also discipline, self control, respect and helps with self confidence. It has helped my son focus better on school work and other activities. It has helped the kids learn to be more patient and respectful. It also teaches them the importance of hardwork and dedication. Master Ha is amazing and so is the entire staff. We are so glad to have found them !

My two daughters Skyla and Faith have been attending Ha’s TaeKwonDo academy. My oldest has attended almost 4 yrs and my youngest almost 6 months. They love it. My oldest daughter tried gymnastics and didn’t like it, tried swimming and got tired of it, horseback riding but lost interest specially during the cold months; however TaekwonDo is a great challenge and accomplishment as they go through each level advancing from belt to belt. They have gained phisical strength & self confidence. We are pleased to be part of Master Ha’s TaeKwonDo school. Thank you. KOMAPSEUMNIDA

We cannot say enough about Ha’s TKD. As a parent of a child with special needs, Grand Master Ha has done wonders for my child in not only the specialized TCS Program, but my son is now mainstreamed into the standard class with his typical peers. The approach is based on building the child’s self esteem and discipline all the while measuring progress and developing skills that reach far beyond a sport or hobby. It’s about emotional and intellectual growth. What’s most incredible is the specialized work Master Ha has been doing with my son on a neurodevelopmental level. Establishing the corpus callosum connectivity through therapy. This is a very advanced, specialized approach that has resulted in huge progress in just a few short months. Amazing. If you truly have your child’s best interest at heart as a developing person, introduce him or her to Ha’s TKD.

Our son joined Ha’s TaeKwonDo in August 2015. He was 3.5 yrs old and not able to keep his attention for very long. He was having difficulty interacting with his peers and struggling with a bit of low confidence. But Master Ha and his team saw Gabriels potential and added him to their TCS class. This made such a significant difference for us. Eight months later he focuses far better than before, enjoys play dates and has incredible coordination and strength. We are so proud of him and thankful we found Master Ha’s Taekwondo.

Jack Coates

I was referred to Ha’s TKD by a couple of friends who had children participate in his programs. Our son Jack who turned a corner after turning 3 years of age. He had behavior issues that prevented him for staying in a school or daycare setting. He struggled to listen, follow direction, focus, social skills, expressing emotions and at times become violent when not getting his way. He struggle with transitions and unstructured environments. We would get daily calls for immediate pickups due to his behaviors. The same issues were also present at home. We had him tested for ADHD, but the test was inconclusive due to his age. However, all the signs and behaviors beyond a typical 3 / 4 year old would have you believe there was a problem. We were looking for an alternative to medication to help our son be successful. We found just that at Ha’s TKD. We came to Ha’s TKD in September 2013 and over the last year and a half we have seen a remarkable
difference in our son’s behavior. I also would like to mention that Jack’s dad was deployed overseas for almost 2 years and I believe that Ha’s program helped Jack overcome the separation and void he felt while his dad was away. Master Ha & Master Tony have been fantastic to work with. Master Tony made a connection with Jack in just a short period of time that help push him to where he is today. Jack is a different boy. He has made tremendous improvement at school and his teachers enjoy having him in class. He just turned 5, and is still a typical 5 year old, but his behavior, attitude, focus and respect has had a major impact on our lives.

To whom it may concern,

My wife and I entrusted our 5 year old son into Master Tony’s care for learning Taekwondo. Over the course of 2 years, we saw our son become more confident, happier and surer of himself and his abilities thanks to the lessons that Master Tony provided each week. As a teacher, he provided structure and discipline that our son needed, while still maintaining a fun and focused teaching experience. We were extremely sad to see him leave Vancouver.
We give Master Tony our highest recommendation, both as a teacher and a friend to Taekwondo students under his instruction. He is patient, he is polite, and he is knowledgeable – traits that served him well here and I know will serve him well wherever he goes in life. We are in his debt for what he provided for our son, and wish him the very best in all his future endeavors.
Thank you,

Tim and Stefanie Lewinson

Johnny.

My son was introduced to Ha’s Taekwondo when they came to his child care setting. My son was withdrawn and did not like to engage with others outside of our immediate family. He would cry and want to stay with his teacher or isolate himself during the day. My son attended Ha’s Taekwondo’s TCS program for 1 year and currently socializes with friends at school, makes eye contact when speaking to others and overall has more self confidence that has been noticed at home and school. My son recently began at a new school environment and has done extremely well adjusting in this new setting. Our family is grateful to Ha’s Taekwondo for all the support they have provided- it has made a difference!

Thank you,
Keisha Woodhouse  (Johnny’s mom)

Our son came to Ha’s a year ago, struggling with impulsive, lack of focus, and undirected energy. During his time in TCS and Tiny Lions, we began to see several positive changes in him. He has progressed through various belts and programs, acquiring self discipline and building confidence. He is highly motivated to achieve and is continually learning to utilize the self control he needs to feel successful. As a family, we are grateful to have found Ha’s Taekwondo and appreciate the many strengths our son is developing from his training with Master Ha and the academy instructors.

I went to Ethan’s parent/teacher conference yesterday and I have to find a way to thank Master Ha and you for how wonderfully he is doing this year in school. All the teachers were having a hard time with him last year. He couldn’t concentrate. He was extremely moody and he was falling behind with his studies.
This year I haven’t gotten one phone call or e-mail about problems at school. He says that he loves being there and the teachers say he is doing fabulously. He is a completely different kid.
During conferences, there were a bunch of teachers waiting for me. They were all there to tell me to keep doing whatever I’m doing to help him. He comes to class and sits calmly, ready to work. He is excited to get started. He is using great eye contact with his teachers and peers. He is focused and answers questions readily. He is engaged and enjoying himself. This year he is excelling in math (doing better than the other kids), he is catching up quickly in reading, writing and spelling. His behavior has been top-notch.
Thank you for all the work you have been doing to help him. I know there is much more work to do but I wanted to share with you what a success this year has been so far. Please share this with Master Ha.

This letter is to tell my thanks to the TCS class my son Codi was in. Ha’s TKD Loves Park’s Gianna and Master Lee did a wonderful job in helping my son. Before the TCS class Codi was an unpredictable ball of lightening. His emotions would spark at the slightest things. And they could range from simply screaming at any and everyone to crying so much he would start to shake from head to toe. This class has done an amazing job of helping him. Without it I don’t know what I would have done. I myself have ADD. So I thought that would help me to be able to help him. I was very wrong. I would recommend this class to every parent that has a child or children with ADD or ADHD. Again thank you very much Ha’s Taekwondo Academy.

Sincerely,
Janie Palmer

Tristan was 4 yrs old when he started in TCS, in January 2013. Since then, he has improved his focus, respect, listening skills and confidence. Nine months later, he is now only in the Tiny Lions group classes. Grandmaster Ha and Miss Keri were keys to his growth and improvement. His preschool teachers, family and friends have all said that they noticed how he has changed. I’m super proud of my son, and am so thankful for Tae Kwon Do and TCS with Grandmater Ha nd Miss Keri.

Jaxson Uhlken.

When my family and I started at Ha’s Taekwondo our son(Jaxson Uhlken) was 4 years old, and he is now a little over 5. Stepping into Ha’s we had no idea what to expect, and in a sense it was just about our last option for our strong willed, highly energetic, and persistent son. With no intention in mind to deal with our sons hyperactivity with medications we turned to a place of discipline. Our results have been more than we could have expected, our family went from a chaotic home of no listening, and as a result constant arguing to a home of peace and respect within 9 months of attending. The dedication and care that Grand Master Ha has for his students is completely apparent to myself and my wife just by the way that our son responds to him.

Benjamin Zaitz Testimonial.

Our son Ben was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in Feb 2011 after about a year or so of us not knowing what was wrong.  He had outbursts for no reason, cried all the time and got angry over the littlest things.  We tried to put him in preschool and he wasn’t able to be there because he would cry.  We were at our wits end really until he got diagnosed.  Once he did, we at least had a route to take.  We put him in Whede early education school which happens to be at our home school Glacier Ridge in Crystal Lake where he attended preschool and still attends today.  He is in the Oasis program there and is doing well.  We learned about Master Ha and Ha’s Tae Kwon Do though school and thought we’d give it a try.  We wanted Ben to learn to control his outward anger and aggression, his self loathing (he always thinks he’s not good enough and doesn’t want to disappoint anyone) and to learn more self control.  He is a VERY smart and loving boy and we just wanted him to be happy.

We started one on one classes with Master Ha and Master Justin in October 2012.  As of today Ben is doing MUCH better in school, less outbursts, he has more ability to control himself and he’s just a happier kid.  Master Ha is so loving and nurturing to the kids in his school.  He really takes his position as Master to heart.  He wants the kids to succeed and tells Ben all the time that it’s ok to make mistakes.  We loved that he said that so much that my mother made Ben wall words (sticker) that says just that. “It’s ok to make mistakes”  Master Ha.  We put that on his wall next to his bed so he reads it every morning and every night.  Since starting classes at Ha’s Ben has improved in school, outside of school, at home and just is an overall happier kid.  He loves class, he loves to learn and loves to make Master Ha proud.  One particular class was especially touching to me.  Ben was really struggling and Master Ha took Ben’s hand, looked him right in the eye and said “Ben, I love you, I want you to know it’s ok to make mistakes.  If you can’t do it, it’s ok, I’m not mad, you just try again next week.”  I actually cried watching that.  His love for his work is VERY apparent and the school has saved our Ben!  He has now graduated from the one on one classes and has improved so much that he gets to move up to a blue Gi and gets to break 2 boards at at time.  I can’t tell you how happy that made him!
THANK YOU MASTER HA AND HA’S TAE KWON DO

Nico Tolentino.

Amazing Transformation…
Grandmaster Ha and Ha’s Taekwondo Academy, along with the help of all the Ha’s Masters and Instructors and together with their unique teaching techniques have molded and shaped my son Nico Tolentino into the young man that he is now, one who is focused and determined to succeed in all he does and gives it 110%. 8 months ago prior to joining Ha’s TKD, Nico was a highly energetic,
unmotivated 13 year old getting B’s and C’s in school. With the teaching of Taekwondo at Ha’s, which I feel is not just a teaching of a Martial Arts sport but that plus a teaching of love; respect; obedience; patience; encouragement; focus and dedication, Nico has remarkably changed for the better.
Nico still highly energetic:) is now a Junior Leader at Ha’s. He is very committed and dedicated to his role as Junior Leader and enjoys working with his peers. Nico is now also a straight “A” student and on the High Honors list at his school. Nico is determined to maintain his straight A’s and graduate 8th grade this summer 2013 on the Principal’s List and focused on achieving his goals of competing in the Olympics and becoming a Neurologist.
I am thankful to God and to Ha’s for getting my son on the right track to succeed in life. Such an positive and amazing difference that I am so proud of!!!

Gavin,

We thank you and appreciate you in listening to all our particular needs and concerns about Gavin’s disability and putting it all together in a detailed program for him.

I’m writing this letter as testimonial and a recommendation to anyone who in needs help in their situation.

No parent wants to hear that his or her child has a disability. The news can be devastating, scary, and sometimes confusing. Ha’s Taekwondo Academy has not only helped our son with his special needs, but also given us tools and resources to enhance all of our lives. This is a new journey for us, as well as our son, and Ha’s Taekwondo Academy has helped us hit the ground running.

My son, Gavin, was almost 5 years old when he started the Taekwondo Clinical Support program with Master Ha.

Gavin manifested the following:

•Social interaction challenges
•Verbal and nonverbal communication challenges
•Stereotypic behaviors and interests.
•Little or no eye contact
•Lack of interest in peer relationships.

In addition, he often had unusual responses to sensory experiences, such as:

Touch
•Sound

Master Ha’s evaluated Gavin, and conducted profile and analysis by gathering information regarding Gavin’s strengths, abilities, desires, interests, and limitations due to his disability that is affecting his development.

Master Ha was able to synthesize the information through observation, assessment, and interpretation of the data he collected in order to develop goals, intervention plans, and approaches based on clinical judgment, knowledge, and skills as well as evidence-based practices and models that he develop in
Taekwondo Clinical Support program.

Master Ha’s Taekwondo Clinical Support (TCS) program intervention for Gavin incorporates the following

Therapeutic use of self and therapeutic use of Taekwondo Activities. He also included consultation and education for the family.
•Taekwondo Clinical Support program addressed Gavin’s needs for development in motor, cognitive, perceptual, play, and social skills.
•direct interventions to help Gavin develop skills and abilities, learn compensatory methods, and build effective social, behavioral, and participation strategies.
•Provide sensory activities to prepare for participation in daily life, including
recreational and educational.
•TCS sensory activities and/or visual prompts to support Gavin’s ability to focus attention stay on task and adapt to changes in routine.
•The TCS program develops strategies for my family to promote success in routine task completion.
•TCS designed a structured activity with a peer in collaboration with a Taekwondo program to promote social interaction.

Looking back here is some growing evidence Taekwondo Clinical Support program using a sensory integrative approach that worked for Gavin. Here are some accomplishments:

•When Gavin started he wandered around and would not stay to do the activity. His TKD belt needed to be attached to Master Ha’s belt so he would not wander. Now he sits and listens to Master Ha without the TKD belt being attached to him and he is more focused on the activity.
•Gavin had very little balance motor skills, he could not balance himself walking from one end to the other end on the balance log without an assistance, now he is able to do it without assistance and top of that he is able to jump on the balance log and kick and hit a target without assistance
•Gavin has improved in his processing perception memory, judgment, and reasoning. One of the activities program in Taekwondo Clinical Support program is, Gavin should only punch or kick the green target and not the red target. In the beginning he would randomly punch or kick the target without discernment on the objective in targeting the specified colored target. Now you could see on Gavin that he waits and process how accomplish the task given to him and execute them.
•Gavin does not participate in a group activity or interested with other peers. Now he joins the group Taekwondo Clinical program with other kids and tries to participate with them to best of his abilities.

I’m not saying that Taekwondo Clinical Support program is magic pill that it would make Gavin disability disappear. What I know it help and give more tools to Gavin cope up and improve in his daily life.

Each child unique, and has different difficulties and disability in life, let us give them a fighting chance by trying Taekwondo Clinical Support program.

We cannot thank the staff enough for everything they have done for us. Their knowledge, compassion, and drive are truly amazing. Thank you for all that you do!

Sincerely,

Gilbert Savella

Benjamin

My 6 year old son Benjamin started attending CPD with Master Ha in July.  He has a diagnosis of PDD NOS, which is on the Autism spectrum.  His specific challenges have been with sensory issues (mainly noise), focus, confidence, and social skills.  Over the last three months we have seen tremendous improvements in all of these areas due to the work he has done with Master Ha.

During Benjamin’s one on one sessions, Master Ha has incorporated specific activities that target each area of concern.  In the areas of focus and confidence, the transformation to this point has been incredible.  He has pushed Benjamin out of his comfort zone, to the point where Benjamin now believes he can do whatever he sets his mind to.  This confidence boost has made a world of difference with the anxiety Benjamin used to feel when going to school.  Additionally, outside of school Benjamin’s social anxiety is significantly reduced.

As a parent I have been beyond thrilled with how much Ha’s TKD has helped my son.  It is very obvious how much Master Ha and all of the instructors take such a personal investment in the success of each student.  Given the changes we have seen in Benjamin in just a couple of months, we are very excited to see his continued success at Ha’s TKD.

Thanks,
Brooke Arvia

Marissa and Daniel.

Our children, Marissa (age 11) and Daniel (age 8) began taking lessons at Ha’s Taekwondo Academy in July, 2011. Within the first few months of being involved in TCPD & TCS classes we began to notice positive changes in our children. These changes have continued to progress as their TKD skills have continued to progress. With the help of studying TKD, they have both grown and changed in many ways. Our daughter has become more self confident and assured in herself and her abilities. She is no longer shy and reserved as she was as a child. She feels more comfortable giving presentations and volunteering at school. The shy child who displayed “stage fright” loves to compete in tournaments. She is gaining greater flexibility and physical strength as a result of her Taekwondo lessons. Your individual guidance and exercise instruction has helped her to overcome a developmental delay in her gross motor skills that she has struggled with since she was a baby. The exercises you gave us to work on at home to help her overcome this disability were simple and quick to accomplish. In a matter of a few short months, we accomplished a goal we had been working toward for years.

With the help of the TCS lessons, Marissa has made great progress in learning to manage her ADD symptoms. She has found that with focus and attention, she has greater control over her symptoms and is able to manage them much easier than previously. Our son, Daniel, has shown great improvement and growth as well as the result of learning TKD. Daniel has always been an overly active child who has had troubles sitting still and had troubles with focus and attention. As a result of his participation in Taekwondo and the TCS classes, our son is now better able to control his behaviors. He has learned a great deal about giving respect and maintaining discipline.

—- Thanks, Success Story! —-

Kyle,

Just a quick update to let you know how I think Kyle has done since being enrolled in the TCS classes:
Kyle joined your TCS program in October 2012. In the past several weeks, I have been noticing several differences in my sons behavior. He makes comments about wanting to respect his mom, he apologizes for mistakes he knows that he owns, he has made more of a commitment to Taekwondo.  Initially, he would receive C’s and D’s on his daily reports between home and Taekwondo. He now earns  A’s and B’s most of the time. Kyle is proud of his accomplishments, although he does not always outwardly show it. But by asking when he will get patches, or advance to the next belt, this shows me that he is interested and committed to better himself!

Derek.
We would like to thank you and your staff for the direction and guidance you have given our 3 year-old son, Derek. Derek’s progress, in just 2 ½ months of TCS(Taekwondo Clinical Support) sessions, and his participation in your Tiny Lions classes, has been amazing. Derek has a sensory integration issue that causes him trouble with focusing on tasks in large group settings and processing sensory input into appropriate motor and behavioral responses. In a short time, we have already seen a marked improvement in Derek’s ability to focus, respond to direction and an improvement in his overall coordination. Thank you again.
Tracy & Fred Biederstadt.

Rushi.
My son Rushi (6) and daughter Riya (almost 4), have been enrolled at Ha’s TKD since July, 2012.  Over the past 2 months, I have noticed several positive changes in both my children, but especially Rushi, my 6 year old. After finding about Ha’s TCS( Taekwondo Clinical Support) class, I contacted them and enrolled both my children. Rushi qualified for the TCS class. Over the last two months, I have seen a significant improvement in his focus, concentration, impulsivity, patience and self-confidence.In addition, Rushi’s respect level for others has increased.  He has just started Kindergarten and his TCS training has helped him make a very smooth transition. All of the skills he is learning at Ha’s Tae Kwon Do are helping him tremendously in school – especially being respectful to his teachers and class mates and taking responsibility. Rushi has made such amazing progress in 2 months that he is no longer required to attend the TCS class. Both children are excited to attend class two times per week. The class has helped my daughter with physical strength, stamina and better gross motor skills. They think very highly of their instructors and work hard to please them. They are proud of their own successes which are celebrated with the class. This is a great boost to their confidence levels. We are so pleased with Master Ha’s program.  We are also very grateful for his ability to strike a balance between discipline and love for his students.  He is an extremely dedicated teacher and strives to help every child. My children know that he genuinely cares for them and they also care greatly for him.  Thank you !!

—- Thanks, Success Story! —-

Colby.
I’m contacting you in regards to my son Colby.  He has been taking Tae Kwon Do classes with you for over a year.  Let me tell you of the progress he has made.  When he first started, he would fidget around constantly, would not focus, and had problems paying attention. He attends classes twice a week, and one of the biggest surprises for me, is how he still looks forward to class after a year.  He tells me he wants to stay in class until he becomes a black belt. The changes I have seen in the last year have been fantastic!  He pays attention in class, shows respect, and focuses.  In school last year he did fabulous. He was a top reader in his
class, and good with mathematics.
I’m very happy with the results from your school, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get more respect discipline, and confidence in their child! Thank you,

—- Thanks, Success Story! —-

Tyler.
The Master, other instructors, and fellow students at Ha’s have made a tremendous difference in our son’s life.
Tyler joined our family at age five.  Emotionally, he was functioning at a fifteen month old level. He had limited verbal skills and engaged only in ‘parallel play’. At age nine, Tyler joined TKD. At this point, he had been diagnosed as having Aspergers Syndrome, which has been considered a mild form of Autism. Although we all knew he was very intelligent, Tyler still had very limited verbal and social skills. For the first year of class, Tyler could not make eye contact, did not talk, had trouble even stepping into the studio, and frequently ran around the room or simply did nothing.
Master Ha saw the potential in Tyler and kept working with him – many times on a one to one basis.  Tyler responded and, ever so slowly, began to participate fully in TCPD.  Now, three years later, Tyler now smiles and laughs in class. He does all required work with a Black belts degree of quality we did not know he was capable of. He shares his skills with friends and with his classes at Roscoe Middle School. What a change! The teachers at Ha’s are all to be commended for their knowledge, patience, and consistent quality teaching. We have been impressed with their willingness to work with special needs individuals, whether those needs be physical or emotional.
Thank you, Ha’s, for the difference you have made in Tyler. Our son now has the joy of accomplishment as well as goals for his future.  You have helped “open up” his life to the world around him! Thank you all,
The Bauer Family Larry,

Trevor.
Our son Trevor has ADD/ADHD. He struggles with staying focused, sitting still for long periods of time, distracted, talks loud, makes impulsive choices, being disrespectful, and is not as flexible as most kids his age.
We signed Trevor up for TCPD class, 3 months ago, in hopes that Master Ha could help him focus better, control his loud tone, show more respect and to become more flexible. We were really skeptical at first, but after the 1st month, we started seeing a completely different Trevor. He is more respectful, controls his loud tone, only using it at TKD. He is able to sit still longer and he is more focused. He is gaining flexibility each time day…
We know he can do it now. It’s amazing how in such a short period of time, Trevor has changed. He continues to grow more flexible and respectful with each class. Thank you for the tools for Trevor’s success.

Sean.
Our son had been experiencing behavior problems for quite some time, and our child care provider had suggested Master Ha’s academy to aid with his behavior development. Once enrolled in the TCPD program just after the first few we’ve seen a positive change in his interactions with us, approach with other children and our child care provider. We had been to other professionals to help aid us with our son’s behavior, but nothing had worked until we enrolled our son into this program. This program went further than just a few classes it also gave us as parents tools to use at home to continue our son’s development and keep it consistent. My son now is more focused and disciplined; we have Master Ha’s program to thanks.

Chris
I wanted to take the time to say thanks to you and your staff (Master Kim, and your instructors Giovanna and Spencer) for the help with my son (Chris).
To give you a background, Chris was diagnosed as having ADD/ADHD around the age of five. Early on in his childhood he suffered from self-esteem issues, behavioral problems, and with his fine motor skills. As a parent who was also diagnosed with ADD/ADHD around the age of ten I recognize and understand a lot of the same problems Chris goes through, and did not want my son to experience the same things I had.
Chris has been in numerous physical therapy programs to address his fine motor skill problems; however nothing seemed to make a difference.  To help with his ADD/ADHD Chris has been prescribed (a wide array) medication. The medication helps, but no medication works to address problems with respect, self-discipline and self-esteem.
About three months ago Chris was struggling at school (listening to his teachers, staying focused, poor attitude, being bullied, and unacceptable behavior). The problems he was having in school resulted in him getting suspended. At home he had just as many problems (whether it was with me or his sisters).
I really was at my wits end and frustrated with what I could do to get him the help he needed. Chris is a bright kid, with so much potential, but nothing I was doing to get him help seemed to work.
A friend suggested your Academy and your Taekwondo Children’s Personality Development (TCPD) program. I looked into it, and then got him enrolled. After trying so many different approaches (to correct the problems Chris faced), when you told me in three months I would see a completely change with Chris I was hopeful, but skeptical.
After three months in the TCPD program I am amazed at how much Chris has transformed (his behaviors, motivation, self-esteem, motor skills, self-discipline, respect, etc.).
One of the greatest things about your program is that Chris has made this transformation not because everyone else wanted him to, but because he wants to, he has learned to believe in himself, and knows how much potential he has.
Thank you again to you and your staff for all of the hard work, patience, understanding and professionalism. You have an excellent team working for you at your academy!!!

Eddie is the younger of our 2 boys, and since his birth 5 years ago he has always had to share our attention with his older brother.  He has brought us great joy and we had been pleased at his ability to keep himself occupied when he traveled along to his brother’s activities.  He is a bright, good-natured and happy boy.  We got a bit of a wake-up call this spring when his pre-school teachers mentioned that he might not be ready for Kindergarten in the fall, as he wasn’t always paying attention and they weren’t sure he had enough maturity, focus and motor skills to assure that he would do well.

We had inadvertently encouraged some bad habits regarding paying attention, and his physical skills and confidence were also not where we expected them to be.  We had previously enrolled him in swimming and gymnastics programs, but the instructors there did not seem to have experience with this sort of problem, and often let him “do his own thing” which had limited benefit.  By mid summer, we decided to have him participate in a trial TKD lesson here in Loves Park.  He often plays pretend superheroes and villians with his brother, so we thought he might like the idea of learning “fighting moves like Batman or his Ninja rivals would use”.  He loved the first lesson and he started coming twice a week in July.

In August you suggested that we have him start attending CPD class as one of his two weekly sessions, and we are really starting to see a difference.  The small class size and extra individual instruction there seem to help a lot, and today (only a few weeks later) he made us very proud as he tested for his first new belt.  We are happy to report that he is doing well in school.  Drawing and writing are improving and he is more attentive and respectful at home.  He also loves to have an activity where his family comes to watch and where we recognize his achievements.  Thank you so much for your help!

Sincerely,

Peter and Karla Kies.   ————– and after 6 years —————-

Ha’s Taekwondo Academy
Loves Park, IL

In July of 2009, we enrolled Eddie in Taekwondo here at Ha’s. In part, we did this to help our son improve his ability to focus, and thereby help prepare him to do his best in kindergarten and grade school.

A little over 4 years later, he is now receiving his black belt in Taekwondo. We are so very proud of him. The program and instructors here helped Eddie bring out his best in so many ways. As we had hoped, our son has developed and demonstrated excellent focusing skills. Not only has he made this great achievement in Taekwondo. At school he has started the 4th grade and is currently doing A and A+ work in all of his subjects.
He also has been studying music and plays the piano and bells. And he further demonstrates maturity, responsibility and a willingness to help others and be a good citizen as a member of a Cub Scout pack.

In addition to these areas of growth, our son has also developed courage, confidence, and self-esteem. He continues to grow in physical skill, discipline and knowledge.

We would like to thank everyone at Ha’s Taekwondo for their work in helping Eddie achieve this important milestone. We are so very happy to see him receiving his black belt today.

Sincerely,

Peter and Karla Kies

Seth,
My son Seth has attended Ha’s T.K.D for approximately 10 months now.  In that time my wife and I have noticed marked improvement in his ability to focus and pay attention.  In addition, his teachers at school have also noticed improvement in his ability to stay focused on tasks, take initiative, and follow directions better.  We attribute a good part of Seth’s success in these areas to Ha’s T.K.D.

Specifically, you and your instructors ability to connect with the kids and provide fun, creative, and positive instructional methods helps the kids to develop confidence, focus, and discipline.  It is noticed right away that the kids have fun while they are learning through taking their martial arts training at your school.  In addition your school does more than focus on just the martial arts training aspect of the individual.  Your school compliments the training aspects of your martial arts programs to the development of the individual. Life lessons learned at the school are stressed to be applied to social abilities and the family environment.  Your emphasis on respect, achievement, and new social skills are fostered to be applied as a good member of society.

Thank you for providing an outstanding caliber of instruction.

Sincerely,

David Conklin

 Zachary,
Dear Master Ha,We feel Zachary being a part of Ha’s Tae Kwon Do has been very good in helping build his self-confidence and establish good coordination.  Since wemoved here in March 2005 Zachary has not wanted to go out and meet kids from our neighborhood or go out to play.  We saw your Tae Kwon Do Academy and asked him if he wanted to join and he replied yes.  We signed him up hoping he would become more involved with other children.  He made some friend srather quickly which made us very happy.  He was in a Tae Kwon Do Academy in Chicago and hated going the 3 days a week that the class was held but since he has joined your academy he loves it.  He is practicing all the time and on a daily basis reminding us he has to go to class.  This in itself was well worth putting him in this program.  I think it is very important for him to do something to keep him busy especially something he enjoys.  Your Academy has shown him how to get along with people and how to protect himself in a required situation.  We have had a couple of situations arrive but with the help of the people in his class (his peers, instructors, ect.)he is over coming his short comings. Your program has also taught him how tohave better self-control, self-discipline, to be a better person towardsother people.  He also, is able to get along better with his siblings (or atleast know how to handle certain situations) when needed to get a grip onthings.  If there is anything else we can think of I will e-mail back assoon as possible.Sincerely,James &Toni Lynch(Zachary’s mom &dad)

I enrolled my son, Xavier in the TCS(TAEKWONDO CLINICAL SUPPORT) Program at Ha’s Taekwondo in February 2011. Xavier is 8 years old and had been diagnosed with ADHD in January of 2011. I read an article about Ha’s TCS Program in our local newspaper. The article explained that the TCS Program was geared toward personality development of children with ADD, ADHD and other types of personality “issues”.
I decided to try it out.
We met with Master Ha and Gianna, and they were both very kind and helpful, but most of all, they understood what Xavier’s needs were. Before starting Taekwondo, Xavier was very impulsive, hyper and overall out of control at home. He was also inattentive, disrespectful and rarely listened, even at school. We were informed that the cost would be $150 a month, which included 2 “regular” classes and also the TCS class weekly. Also, after Xavier graduated the class, the cost would go down to $100 a month. Well, I am proud to say that after 2 short months of classes, Xavier has graduated! His attitude, self confidence and overall behavior have never been better! He is very respectful at home and is doing excellent in school, since his focus has improved.
I was skeptical that martial arts could have such a huge impact on my son’s behavior, but I am a believer now! The best part? Grandmaster Ha kept true to his word and our monthly payment has decreased to the $100 mark! (even though I could never put a price tag on what Ha’s Taekwondo has taught and done for my son and our family.) Thank you Ha’s TKD!!!

Andrew,
Our son Andrew, 5 years old, has been working with you and your studio for around 3 months now. He has been taking a regular class as well as one specifically formulated to improve his focus, attention span, balance and body awareness.
Over the time frame we have seen a marked improvement particularly with his level of respect and patients levels. By involving us thru in studio and at home exercises we have been given a few tools to help him stay focused or refocus during some difficult moments when he has trouble with those issues.

We look forward to continually working with you and continued success both in class and at home.

Thanks,

Mr. & Mrs. Juric

Anthony and Ryan,
Just wanted to write a quick note to tell you how pleased I am with the progress of my 2 boys, Anthony and Ryan.  They just started classes with you mid-January and I already see great progress.

My boys are sweet, but both are strong-willed and double trouble!  They each have their own issues – Anthony with a lack of focus and a lack of confidence, and Ryan with a hyperactive personality.  They are thrilled to go to class and I have seen  improvement in class over the weeks.  But, most notably, I have seen much more cooperation and respect in their behavior at home.

I would highly recommend your Tae Kwon Do studio.  Thank you and I look forward to continued improvement as they progress toward their black belts!

Janet Fischer

Bryce,
Bryce joined Master Ha’s Tae Kwon Do at age 4. He has a developmental delay, speech is behind a year he also has behavioral problems, it was said at times he may have a sensory problem. When Bryce first joined he would not participate, he throw huge screaming fits. We dreaded taking him.  Master Ha suggested giving him time outs to get him to know when class is going on either he joins or he gets a time out, he would be in time out the whole class time screaming and crying. Master Ha didn’t give up on Bryce, he knew Bryce could do it. Along with normal TKD class Bryce is also in CPD class. We kept coming on a regular schedule, endured weeks of screaming fights. Bryce now loves going to class, he participates completely with a positive attitude. He even is bringing home what he has learned. He is proud of what he has accomplished and so are we. In such little time we are seeing a huge change in our son. We are so proud of him! Master Ha has great patience, knowledge, and is a great teacher.

Isaiah,
Isaiah joined Ha’s Tae Kwon Do at age 3. When Isaiah first joined he would not participate, he would run around, climb all over the bags, and not listen to what he was told. Master Ha suggested giving him time outs to get him to know when class is going on either he joins or he gets a time out, this worked. Master Ha didn’t give up on Isaiah, he knew Isaiah could do it. He kept telling us to keep bringing him to Tiny Lions along with the CPD class. We kept coming on a regular schedule, though for the longest time seemed to us he wasn’t getting better but more of a distraction to the class. With all the hard work with CPD and a consistent schedule we started to see small improvements. Now 7 months later Isaiah fully participates during the entire class, has confidence and truly enjoys TKD. We are also seeing much improvements at home, and have broken a lot of his bad habits through CPD. Isaiah is much calmer, and shows respect.
Master Ha’s CPD program is a great program, and as he showed us with Isaiah that we need to give it time with a consistent schedule and not to give up. This is the second success story of the CPD program working for our family. We could not be more happier.
Master Ha has a great program, he has great patience, knowledge and is a great teacher.
Thanks for all the hard work done by Master Ha and all the instructors that have helped along the way, including Gianna.
Regards, Michelle and Joel Mohnacky

Sonia Mazak
We are extremely impressed with Grand Master Ha’s Taekwondo Clinical Support program.   We enrolled our son in August to improve his focus, as he had difficultly sitting still and listening to others.  Within a short period of time, I noticed a tremendous difference in his overall focus.  We also noted vast improvements in his gross motor skills, balance, and strength.  Most importantly, the training he has received has increased his impulse control and overall discipline.

I would highly recommend Grand Master Ha’s program to anyone who is interested in improving their child’s self-control and confidence.   This is a great program.

 Nicolas Rolando
My son’s name is Nicolas Rolando.
Before we started the CPD class my son had some problems with sitting still, being hyper. listening, and focusing.
He also had no respect for anyone. I started seeing some improvement in the first week of class.
Nicolas loved  his first class and he was eager to learn more. Nicolas started doing his homework every night and cleaning his bedroom in the morning without being told that was a good start. Nicolas has been working on what he has learned in class since day one. As Nicolas attends more classes his focus and behavior has improved. Now Nicolas is able to sit in a good Tae Kwon Do form that Master Ha has taught him. Also his hand eye coordination and balance has improved. His respect for his parents and other people has also improved. My wife and i would like to thank Master Ha for helping my son in these areas.                Thank You  Master Ha

 Sebastian,
When our son Sebastian was 6 years old he was diagnosed with ADHD and tourettes (which causes tics).  He has trouble focusing and concentrating.  I have been working with teachers since he was in 1st grade to help him stay focused  and to help him learn.  Teachers always said Sebastian is a smart kid but he gets easily distracted and he is disturbing in class.

Last year when he started Junior High School his confidence decreased.  A small group of children was teasing Sebastian and calling him names . It was a hard year for him.  I worked with social worker and psychologist to stop the bulling and to help him build his confidence.

Sebastian joined Ha’s Taekwando in September of 2011. In a short five months we have noticed that TKD helped him grow his confidence back and it has helped with his focus. We haven’t seen the tics since then. He also has more respect for us at home.  We are very happy that we have picked your school and we will be proud to recommend it to anyone who is interested.

We are also very privileged that you nominated Sebastian to be an Instructor.  He is very proud and happy about it however we are in the process of buying a new house which means he will have to change schools.  We don’t know what how Sebastian will adapt in new school and how he will cope with this new challenge.  Sebastian also wants to play basketball and we would like to see first what the new school has to offer to accommodate both Tau Kwan Do and basketball for him.  Is it OK if we revisit this option in few months?
He would still love to help with TCS classes if that’s OK with you.

Sincerely,
Justyna Henke

He was a top reader in his class, and good with mathematics.

I’m very happy with the results from your school, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get more respect discipline, and confidence in their child!

Thank you,

Lisa Graham

 Brandon,
With interest already expressed from our son to join Martial Arts, it was your TCPD program that led us to your Academy. Our son Brandon had been showing signs and symptoms of ADHD. He had challenges at home and in school focusing on task, listening, following directions and impulsive behavior.

Since joining your academy and enrolling Brandon into TCPD, the changes have been amazing. There are several improvements to the things that once challenged him. The discipline, respect, focus, attention and confidence are greatly  improved. We are so proud of the progress Brandon has made and we are very thankful for the program offering at Has Academy. Brandon looks forward to every TKD class and enjoys learning new skills and becoming the best that he can be.

We thank Grandmaster Ha for this program offering and to his instructors for their education and guidance teaching Brandon Tae Kwon Do.

Best Regards,
Jeff and Holly

Caleb,
Here are some thoughts.  Let me know if this is what you are looking for.

My son, Caleb, has been attending Ha’s TKD for 2 years now in February.  We have been very happy with the program.  Caleb has developmental delays that affect his gross motor skills.  He struggles with balance, coordination, and motor planning. This program has been great for him because it is a safe environment in which he can practice his skills.  There is a lot of repetition and the staff is very patient and kind.  They have seen him struggle and are always so encouraging to him.  We love Master Tony for his faithful committment to training Caleb and Master Ha and Master Allen are also high on Caleb’s list.  I have seen Caleb make progress in skill performance and confidence.  I hope for him to continue with this program a long time.
Sincerely,

Tanya Hill

 Isabella,
My name is Maria and I have a daughter named Isabella.  She is six years old.  We both started Ha’s Taekwondo with Grandmaster Ha in April
2006.  It is amazing the changes it has brought to our lives.  I have noticed the most change in Isabella.  The martial art of Ha’s Taekwondo has
many benefits and let me tell you our story.
My daughter is not a normal child.  She was born with birth defects on her right hand, her right ankle and her left toes.  She has not had an easy life.  She has always been a little slower than average children in developing her mechanical motions.  She learned to walk later than average kids, so I think in turn, it made her a little self-conscience.  I would say she was almost shy.
Ha’s Taekwondo has greatly improved Isabella life.  I think it has given her courage and confidence.  She has the attitude now that can do it?  No
longer are we at ? I can The in-class exercises are developing her motions so that she is doing better at gym in school.  She always wants to
try everything, even the difficult back kicks!
Isabella has made many new friends at Ha’s Taekwondo.  They are a great group and are always encouraging!  I also love that Isabella is learning the meaning of discipline.  The instructors at Ha  really try to get the kids focus and do the best that they can do.
At Ha, my daughter Isabella has developed greatly.  She is learning self-defense and enjoying it.  Physically Ha’s Taekwondo is great exercise and
mentally very stimulating.  The kids learn some Korean and are taught to show respect.  I hope that you will stop some time and check Ha out.

Sincerely,

Maria Mineau

 Ethan,
Thank you! Ethan has made tremendous progress in the last six months. He is stronger physically, more agile and flexible and more confident. Since he has began Taekwondo and CPD classes he is able to focus better, listens to instructions and follow them and is doing better in school. He was on the honor roll last quarter. He has passed most of the requirements in gym class. Last year he did not do well in gym he could not run, or do sit ups or push ups. He has even surpassed some of the more athletic students in sit ups and push ups. His gym teacher also says that he listens better than he did previously. I am sure all of this is due to his Taekwondo. Ethan is exercising on his own and trying to eat better and lose weight. This is also due to Taekwondo.  Just this past week I saw him do something I have never seen him do. He took a leadership roll and trained another student and actually stayed with it and did quite well with out loosing interest or goofing off. This is all part of the wonderful training he has gotten from Taekwondo CPD class. He has come a long way in a short period of time. When he was in first grade his teacher suggested medication as an answer to his lack of focus and his high energy and easy distract ability. I am so glad we looked for another answer! I believe with these classes and the right training he will settle down and do well in school and become a leader and accomplish much in the future. Thank You very much for the time, effort that you give to this. It pays off in ways I never thought possible. I was just looking for exercise and something to keep him busy when I suggested Taekwondo CPD to him at the beginning of the summer. We are very pleased with his progress and all the benefits he has gotten fron joining Ha’s Taekwondo Academy. You have done a great job with Ethan.

Gayle Edge.

 David,
David was born 7 weeks premature, spent 2 weeks in the NICU, and has dealt with multiple physical problems since birth.  David has had physical therapy almost continuously since he was about 6 months old.  He has low muscle tone in his upper and lower extremities so he has difficulty running, jumping and climbing.  David is in preschool now and receives physcial and occupational therapies weekly.  After consulting with his therapists, we enrolled him at Ha’s Tae Kwan Do to supplement the therapies he receives at school.  We enrolled him in January ’07 and we can see how much stronger he is.  He can actually jump a little with both feet off the ground and he is working on a jumpkick.  He practices his kicks at home, can pedal a bicycle – does many things normal 4-year-olds can do.  We are hopeful he will continue to gain strength as he continues Tae Kwan Do.

,
To Whom This May Concern:

Our son had been experiencing behavior problems for quite some time, and our child care provider had suggested Master Ha’s academy to aid with his behavior development. Once enrolled in the Tiny Lions/TCS(TAEKWONDO CLINICAL SUPPORT) program just after the first few we’ve seen a positive change in his interactions with us, approach with other children and our child care provider.
We had been to other professionals to help aid us with our son’s behavior, but nothing had worked until we enrolled our son into this program.
This program went further than just a few classes it also gave us as parents tools to use at home to continue our son’s development and keep it consistent.
My son now is more focused and disciplined; we have Grandmaster Ha’s program to thank.

 Tyler,
To. Whom It May Concern

It is our pleasure to recommend master Tae E. Ha and Ha’s Taekwondo Academy.
The master other instructors and fellow students at Ha’s have made a tremendous difference in our son’s life.

Tyler joined our family at age five. Emotionally, he was functioning at a fifteen month old level. Ha had limited verbal skills and engaged only in ‘parallel play’. At age nine, Tyler joined Taekwondo. At this point, he had been diagnosed as having Aspergers syndrome, which has been considered a mild form of Autism. Although we all knew he was very intelligent, Tyler still had very limited verbal and social skills. For the first year of class, Tyler could not make eye contact, did not talk, had trouble eve stepping into the studio, and frequently ran around the room or simply did nothing.

Master Ha saw the potential in Tyler and kept working with him-many times on a one to one bassis.
Tyler responded and, ever so slowly, began to participate fully in Taekwondo. Now, three year later, Tyler is a Black Belt!! The pride he fells in himself is immeasurable!

Tyler now smiles and laughs in class. He does all required work with a degree of quality we did not know he was capable of. He shares his skills with friends and with his classes at Roscoe Middle School. He wants to continue in Taekwondo and add classes in Kumdo. WHAT A CHANGE!

The teachers at Ha’s are all to be commended for their knowledge, patience, and consistent quality teaching. We have been impressed with their willingness to work with special needs individuals, whether those needs be physical or emotional.

Thank you, Ha’s for the difference you have made in Tyler. Our son now has the joy of accomplishment as well as goals for his future. You have helped “open up” his life to the world around him!

Thank you all,
The Bauer Family
Larry, Sharlene and Tyler

 Nadja,
When Nadja first entered Master Ha’s CPD program, she was having a lot of difficulty concentrating. Not only that, but she would gt very angry when things didn’t come easily or go her way. She would stomp her feet, growl and clench her fists. On some occasions, if she didn’t feel like she could do something, she would shut down all together or cry. And now, after just a few months, she has completely changed. The extra attention and one-on-one experience, along with the immediate reward/punishment system made a huge difference in her behavior and self-esteem. Master Ha’s CPD(Children’s Personality Development) program is a comprehensive class that recognizes the short attention spans of children, teaches skills like concentration and patience and gets the parents involved in their childe behavioral well-being. The innate talent in dealing with kids and consistency of the staff at Ha’s Tae Kwon Do, coupled with parental involvement is a winning combination. I would recommend this martial arts program to any parent whose child has trouble focusing or difficulty behaving.

Sincerely,
Liz Hum (Nadja’s Mom)

Nicole Thomas-Newman

Our son joined Ha’s TaeKwonDo in August 2015. He was 3.5 yrs old and not able to keep his attention for very long. He was having difficulty interacting with his peers and struggling with a bit of low confidence. But Master Ha and his team saw Gabriels potential and added him to their TCS class. This made such a significant difference for us. Eight months later he focuses far better than before, enjoys play dates and has incredible coordination and strength. We are so proud of him and thankful we found Master Ha’s TaeKwonDo.
